Product Information
Piperine is a natural phenolic compound that is found in black pepper. Piperine has been shown to have a variety of therapeutic properties, including anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic effects. Piperine also inhibits the synthesis of an amino acid called tryptophan. Curvularia is a fungus that causes plant diseases and can be controlled by piperine. Piperine has been shown to inhibit the growth of Curvularia at a concentration of 0.5 mg/mL. Piperine is also effective against tropical saprophytic fungi such as Fusarium oxysporum and Penicillium digitatum. The mechanism of action for piperine is not yet fully understood, but it may be due to inhibition at the cyclic stage or epoxidation step in the biosynthesis of pipecolic acid, which leads to the inhibition of germ tube formation.
