Description:

4-Hydroxy-2,5-dihydrofuran-2-one is a reactive intermediate in the palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction. It is used to synthesize an aromatic hydrocarbon by reacting with formamide and an inorganic acid. The reaction time can be varied depending on the desired product. 4-Hydroxy-2,5-dihydrofuran-2-one is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of tetrathiafulvalene via enaminone formation. This intermediate has acidic properties and structural formula C4H6O3. The reactivity of this compound is similar to that of tetronic acid, which is also acidic. 4-Hydroxy-2,5 -dihydrofuran 2 one reacts with formamide and hydrochloric acid in ndimethylformamide to give carbonyl group or aromatic hydrocarbon products.
