Product Information
- Chenodeoxycholic acid 3-sulfate disodium
(3a,5b,7a)-7-Hydroxy-3-(sulfooxy)-cholan-24-oic acid disodium (3AO) is a bile acid that is formed in the liver. It is a product of cholesterol and glycine. 3AO is useful for quantifying the amount of bile acids in urine samples. 3AO reacts with an azide ion to form a fluorescent product that can be measured using UV/VIS spectroscopy or fluorescence detection. The reaction between 3AO and the azide ion produces a fluorescent product that can be measured by UV/VIS spectroscopy or fluorescence detection. This reaction can also be used to detect sulfate conjugates of bile acids. This test has been shown to be advantageous for diagnosis of patients with primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC).
