Description:
(E)-Hexadec-11-Enal is a fatty acid that is found in many animal and plant fats. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of subcutaneous tumors in mice. (E)-Hexadec-11-Enal also has antitumor activity, which may be due to its ability to induce apoptosis. The active form of (E)-Hexadec-11-Enal is a reversible covalent adduct with the enzyme glutathione reductase, which prevents glutathione from scavenging reactive oxygen species and causing oxidative damage in cells. This form has also been shown to have an effect on the Toll receptor and modulate immune responses.
