1,2,3,4,5,5-Hexafluoro-1,3-cyclopentadiene is a coordination compound that contains a carbonyl group. It has been used in organic synthesis as a cross-linking agent and perfusion medium. The coordination of the hydroxy group to the central metal atom leads to the formation of six hydrogen bonds. 1,2,3,4,5,5-Hexafluoro-1,3-cyclopentadiene is an isomer of pentafluorocyclopentadiene and can be prepared by heating perfluorohexane with elemental fluorine or hydrogen chloride gas. The x-ray diffraction study revealed that the molecule has a linear structure with alternating single and double bonds.
