It is used as a solvent for fatty alcohols. This compound has been analysed using solid phase microextraction and steady-state fluorescence, and found to be amine-insensitive in dilution studies. 1-(2-Hydroxyethyl)-3-methylimidazolium Bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide also exhibits paramagnetic resonance and fluorescence properties, which makes it suitable for use in analyte detection by focusing.
