Synonyms:
  • Benzoic acid, 4-hydrazinyl-, ethyl ester
  • Ethyl 4-hydrazinobenzoate
  • Ethyl 4-Hydrazinylbenzoate
Description:

4-Hydrazinyl-benzoic acid ethyl ester is a chemical compound that is used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals. It can be synthesized by reacting 4-hydrazinobenzoic acid with ethyl chloride followed by hydrolysis with water. 4-Hydrazinyl-benzoic acid ethyl ester has an anxiolytic effect and binds to GABA receptors in the brain. The binding constant for this compound to human serum proteins is 15x10 M, which suggests that there could be potential interactions with other drugs. FTIR spectroscopy has shown that this compound undergoes thermal denaturation, but synchronous fluorescence plates have shown no changes upon heating.
