Hexaethylene glycol monodecyl ether is a detergent that has been shown to inhibit the toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) and other receptors in cellular assays. Hexaethylene glycol monodecyl ether is also a cationic surfactant, which has been shown to be effective in removing lipids from the skin surface by adsorption onto the skin surface. This detergent has been shown to have synergistic effects with other chemicals in pharmacokinetic studies.
