17-hydroxy-3-oxo-19-norpregna-4,9-diene-21nitrile is a synthetic hormone that binds to the progesterone receptor and can be used as a contraceptive. It has been shown in treatment trials to increase serum prolactin levels and decrease the incidence of endometriosis. 17aOHPNDN is not genotoxic, but it does have some activity on mouse tumors.
