Product Information
- Methanesulfonothioic acid S,S'-1,6-hexanediyl ester
1,6-Hexanediyl bismethanethiosulfonate (BMS) is a small molecule that inhibits the activity of ATPase enzymes in the mitochondria. BMS has been shown to inhibit tumor growth by inhibiting ATPases in the microenvironment. BMS binds to a specific site on ATPases and blocks their activity. Inhibiting mitochondrial ATPase activity leads to decreased proton transport, which may be associated with cancer cell death. BMS also inhibits cardiac myocyte function and may be used as a treatment for cardiac disease. This drug also has homologous properties, meaning it can bind to other proteins that are structurally related to the target protein. The truncating property is an irreversible property that cleaves off a single amino acid from the target protein.
