Description:
Hexyl methanethiosulfonate (HMT) is a potent inhibitor of methyltransferases and is used in the biochemical studies of various proteins. It has been shown to be a selective inhibitor of protein methylation and prevents transcriptional regulation by inhibiting histone methylation. HMT also inhibits the activity of mitochondrial membrane depolarization, which causes cell death. In addition, HMT has been shown to have anticancer effects on solid tumours and is toxicologically safe in mice.
