Description:

(+/-)-Homoproline is a synthetic amino acid that inhibits the enzyme dipeptidyl peptidase IV, which is involved in the degradation of the incretin hormone glucagon-like peptide-1. It has been shown to be effective in inhibiting the proliferation of colorectal adenocarcinoma cells, and is also cytotoxic against a number of other cancer cell lines.
DEFINITION: Dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP4) is an enzyme that cleaves the link between two amino acids at the carboxy terminal end of a protein or peptide. This enzyme is inhibited by (+/-)-homoproline, a synthetic amino acid with significant cytotoxicity against a number of cancer cell lines.
