Description

5-Hydroxy diclofenac is a reactive, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX) and lipoxygenase (LOX) enzymes. It has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity and to inhibit the enzyme activity of p450 in human HL-60 cells. 5-Hydroxy diclofenac has also been observed to produce a dose-dependent increase in mitochondrial membrane potential in HCT116 colon cancer cells. This drug has been shown to be effective for wastewater treatment because it can degrade organic compounds, such as phenols and amines.
