Description

Flurbiprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that belongs to the class of fluorinated analogues of phenylacetic acid. It is used in the treatment of pain, fever, and inflammation. Flurbiprofen inhibits the production of growth factors (e.g., stem cell factor) by binding to an enzyme called polymerase chain reaction (PCR). This enzyme is involved in DNA replication and repair and also has a role in cell division. Flurbiprofen can also prevent mitochondrial membrane potential from being lost by inhibiting the release of cytochrome C into the cytosol. Flurbiprofen has been shown to have antioxidative properties and may be beneficial for preventing fatty acid peroxidation in humans.
