Product Information
- 8-Chloro-10-[3-(4-methyl-1-piperazinyl)propyl]-10H-phenothiazin-3-ol
Prochlorperazine is a prodrug that is metabolized to 7-hydroxy prochlorperazine (7OH-PCP). This drug has been shown to have anti-diabetic properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the reuptake of insulin. The plasma concentrations of 7OH-PCP are increased by sulfoxide and reduced by glutathione reductase. Prochlorperazine also has cancer cell growth inhibition and immunosuppressive effects. The analytical method for this substance can be carried out using LC-MS/MS after immobilization on an inert solid support. Prochlorperazine can be used in the treatment of nausea and vomiting in pediatric patients, as well as for cancer therapy, although it has not been approved by the FDA for these indications.
