- 4-Hydroxy-3-[1-(3-hydroxyphenyl)-3-oxobutyl]-2H-1-benzopyran-2-one
3'-Hydroxy warfarin is a probe for the monitoring of serum levels of warfarin. It is not metabolized and does not have any pharmacological activity. 3'-Hydroxy warfarin is used for the detection of warfarin-induced anticoagulation, which can be monitored by measuring prothrombin time (PT) or activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT). 3'-Hydroxy warfarin has been shown to be an effective probe for monitoring anticoagulant therapy in different subgroups of patients, as well as correlating pharmacogenetics with treatment response.
