(-)-(1S,2S,5S)-2-Hydroxy-3-pinanone is a synthetic compound that has been prepared by an imine synthesis. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in rat brains and to have a strong binding affinity for amines such as n-methyl-d-aspartic acid. (-)-(1S,2S,5S)-2-Hydroxy-3-pinanone has also been shown to be an analog of the natural amino acid lysine and can be used as a ligand for asymmetric synthesis.
