Product Information
- MTSHE2-Mercapto-ethanol S-methanesulfonate
- methanesulfonothioic acid, S-(2-hydroxyethyl) ester
- S-(2-hydroxyethyl) methanesulfonothioate
2-Hydroxyethyl methanethiosulfonate is a hydrophobic, periplasmic, and extracellular sibling that interacts with the sugar transport system in glyrs. It is a product of glycerol metabolism that can be found in the plasma membrane and cellular cytoplasm. 2-Hydroxyethyl methanethiosulfonate has been shown to inhibit sugar transport by interacting with glyrs and preventing sugar uptake. The function of this compound is unknown, but it may play a role in xenopus oocyte development.
