Product Information
- N-palmitoyl-L-homoserine
N-Hexadecanoyl-L-homoserine lactone (C16:0) is a lipid molecule that is found in the cell walls of certain plants. It has been shown to be active against Gram-positive bacteria and has been used in the clinical treatment of Gram-negative bacteria infections, such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Chromobacterium violaceum. C16:0 inhibits bacterial growth by disrupting the cell membrane, leading to lysis. N-Hexadecanoyl-L-homoserine lactone has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against P. aeruginosa, which is an opportunistic human pathogen that can cause pneumonia, urinary tract infections, sepsis, and other serious infections in immunocompromised patients with cystic fibrosis or burns.
