Product Information

Name:
4-n-Hexylphenylboronic acid
Synonyms:
  • 4-N-hexylphenylboronic acid
  • Akos Brn-0153
  • (4-Hexylphenyl)Boronic Acid
Description:

4-n-Hexylphenylboronic acid is a chiral organic compound. It can be used as a drug target for antibiotics and has been shown to have antibacterial activity. 4-n-Hexylphenylboronic acid may also be used in the synthesis of biologically active molecules, such as oligopeptides, which are short chains of amino acids. These peptides are often used to treat bacterial infections because they can easily permeate cell membranes. The biological properties of 4-n-Hexylphenylboronic acid have been studied extensively and it has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by alkylating the ribose sugar in their DNA. This inhibits DNA replication and transcription, leading to cell death.
