Product Information
- 4-Hydrazinyl-3-nitropyridin
- Pyridine, 4-Hydrazinyl-3-Nitro-
4-Hydrazino-3-nitropyridine is a chemical compound that has been shown to be cytotoxic against colorectal adenocarcinoma cells and Proteus aeruginosa. It can also inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, which may be due to its ability to interfere with DNA synthesis. The mechanism of 4HN’s cytotoxicity is not yet known, but it has been hypothesized that it may bind to the N7 position of guanine or the N3 position of thymine in DNA. In addition, it has been shown that 4HN can be used for analytical methods such as optical spectroscopy and infrared spectroscopy.
4HN can be synthesized by reacting sodium nitrite with hydrazine under acidic conditions, followed by oxidation using dithionite or dihydrochloride acid.
