Product Information
- Pimeloyl chloride
Heptanedioyl dichloride is a compound that has been used in Friedel-Crafts reactions to form acyl halides from carboxylic acids. This compound is cytotoxic to the human cervical carcinoma cell line, HeLa cells, with a significant decrease in cell viability. The mechanism of this cytotoxicity may be due to the production of reactive oxygen species or the inhibition of mitochondrial membrane potential. The heptanedioyl dichloride molecule also shows a resistance to cancer by inducing apoptosis and inhibiting tumor growth. Heptanedioyl dichloride forms crystalline structures with a diphenyl ether group and an aliphatic hydrocarbon group. The hydroxyl group on the heptanedioyl dichloride molecule can react with chloride ions to form an ionic bond. It is also possible for this compound to bind to mt2 receptors, which are found on the inner membrane of mitochondria and regulate transport
