Heptyl methyl sulphide is a colorless liquid with a strong odor. It is used as a solvent and intermediate in the production of other chemicals. The chemical structure of heptyl methyl sulfide consists of an aliphatic hydrocarbon chain, which is attached to an alkanoic acid group at one end and a ring structure at the other. The oxidation products are mesoporous, peroxide, or desulfurization. Heptyl methyl sulphide can also be used for the removal of hexane and disulfides from aliphatic hydrocarbons. It has been shown that heptyl methyl sulphide can act as an organic solvent and metal ion.
