Product Information
- 3-Hydroxypyrrolidin-2-One
3-Hydroxy-2-pyrrolidinone (3HPP) is a synthetic chemical compound that is primarily used as an intermediate in the production of other chemicals. 3HPP can be synthesized by the dehydrogenation of primary amines, with water acting as a hydrogen donor. The reaction can be carried out in either liquid or solid phase, and can be immobilized to allow for large-scale production. The yield of 3HPP is typically around 80%. 3HPP has been shown to inhibit cellular respiration by inhibiting the uptake of malic acid into the mitochondria, and has also been shown to act as a ligand in coordination complexes with bidentate ligands.
