Description:

3-Hydroxy-pyridine-2-carboxylic acid methyl ester (3HPC) is a natural product that is biosynthesized from the amino acid methionine. 3HPC has been shown to inhibit the acetylcholine esterase enzyme, which leads to an accumulation of acetylcholine in the synapse, resulting in neuromuscular paralysis and death. This compound has also been shown to interact with picolinic acid, which may be due to the similarity of their structures. 3HPC has been used in the synthesis of lipid nanoparticles for drug delivery systems, which have a hydrodynamic diameter of about 10 nm.
