4-Hydroxy-7-methoxyquinoline-3-carboxylic acid is a chemical compound used in the treatment of HIV. It is a prodrug that is activated by cytochrome P450 enzymes to form an active metabolite, indinavir. This drug inhibits the reverse transcriptase and protease activities of retroviruses. 4-Hydroxy-7-methoxyquinoline-3-carboxylic acid has been found to be stable in humans, as well as in powder diffraction studies, and resistant against nelfinavir. These properties make it an effective antiviral agent for the treatment of HIV infection.
