3-Hydroxy-4[2-sulfo-4-(4-sulfophenylazo)phenylazo]-2,7-naphthalenedisulfonic acid tetrasodium salt is a chemical compound that has been used in the diagnosis of proteinuria. It reacts with the α1-acid glycoprotein to form a ponceau dye. The 3HSA can be detected by fluorescence probe, which binds to the sulfonate group on the dye. The reaction mechanism of 3HSA is shown below:
