Product Information
- Benzooxazol-2-yl-hydrazine
- 2-Hydrazinyl-1,3-Benzoxazole
2-Hydrazino-1,3-benzoxazole is an azide that is used as a disinfectant. It has been shown to be active against many Gram-positive organisms, including Staphylococcus aureus and Faecalis. 2-Hydrazino-1,3-benzoxazole can be synthesized from the reaction of formaldehyde with furfural or chloroformate in the presence of a base. This compound also has antibacterial properties due to its hypochlorous acid content. The azide group is responsible for the antimicrobial activity and the methylene group provides stability to the molecule. 2-Hydrazino-1,3-benzoxazole is stable at low pH and has strong antimicrobial activity against test organisms such as chalcones and condensation products.
