4,4'-(Hexafluoroisopropylidene)diphthalic anhydride is a polymer that is activated by copolymerization with ethane. This product has an activation energy of 18.7 kJ/mol and a diameter of 1.5 nm. It is stable in air and water and can be used as a catalyst for the synthesis of polyethylene and polypropylene. 4,4'-(Hexafluoroisopropylidene)diphthalic anhydride also has high transport properties, which are due to its ionic properties and low reactivity with other materials. It is insoluble in most solvents but soluble in fluorinated solvents such as hexafluoroacetone sesquihydrate or hexafluoroacetone triperoxide.
