5-Hydroxy-1-methyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (HMPC) is an industrial chemical that is prepared by the reaction of ethyl acetate and 5-hydroxypyrazole. This product has been shown to increase the yield of cyclization reactions between carboxylates and amines. HMPC also reacts with acid ethyl esters to form cyclized products in a high purity. The cyclization, amination, and acid ethyl ester reactions are all done under mild conditions.
