Product Information
4-Hydroxy-3-Iodobenzonitrile is a potent inhibitor of the bacterial enzyme ido1. It has been shown to inhibit thrombin, an enzyme that is essential for blood clotting. 4-Hydoxy-3-iodobenzonitrile binds to the active site of the enzyme, which is located on the surface, and prevents substrate binding and catalysis. This chemical reaction can be modeled by molecular mechanics calculations. The electron reduction of this molecule leads to the formation of a protonated form that is more stable in acid conditions than its neutral counterpart.
