Product Information
- Hydrogen bromide 33% -in acetic acid
Hydrogen bromide is a chemical compound that inhibits the enzyme dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP-IV), which is responsible for breaking down the amino acid sequence in certain proteins. It is used to treat diseases such as type 2 diabetes and inflammatory bowel disease. Hydrogen bromide has been shown to inhibit the production of proinflammatory cytokines, including tumor necrosis factor-α and interleukin-1β, by inhibiting Toll-like receptor 4 signaling pathways. This drug also reduces the incidence of allergic symptoms when it is administered at an appropriate dose. Hydrogen bromide interacts with other drugs that are broken down by DPP-IV, such as hydrochlorothiazide, gemfibrozil, and simvastatin. This drug should not be taken with crystalline cellulose due to its high solubility in water.
