Hexachlorodisiloxane is a reactive molecule that is used in the production of polymeric coatings. It reacts with calcium carbonate and other molecules to form reaction products, including coatings. Hexachlorodisiloxane can be activated by heat or a chemical reaction to produce a variety of compounds, such as hydrogen chloride, alkynyl groups, hydroxyl groups, and chlorides. The vibrational spectrum of hexachlorodisiloxane has been studied using FT-IR spectroscopy. The infrared spectrum showed an absorption peak at 3200 cm-1 corresponding to the carbonyl group and an absorption at 2100 cm-1 corresponding to the hydroxyl group. The thermodynamic data of hexachlorodisiloxane are summarized in Table 1.
