Product Information
- (4Z)-5-hydroxyhept-4-en-3-one
- 3,5-Heptandione
- Dipropionylmethane
- Heptane-3,5-Dione
3,5-Heptanedione is a compound that belongs to the group of methylene compounds. It has been shown to have an intramolecular hydrogen and an active methylene group. The metal chelate ring in 3,5-heptanedione is formed by the interaction of two tautomeric forms of 3,5-heptanedione: the amine form (3,5-dimethylpyrazin-2-one) and the enol form (3,5-dimethylpyrazin-2(3H)-one). 3,5-Heptanedione can react with trifluoroacetic acid to form a chelate ring that is unsymmetrical. This reaction can be reversed by adding amines.
