Description:

Humulone is a chemical compound found in hops. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of certain cancer cells, including HL-60 cells, and to reduce skin tumor formation in mice. Humulone has been shown to be chemically stable in reaction solutions and nutrient solutions, but it is sensitive to UV light. The extract can be quantified using a fluorescence probe. Humulone may have anti-infective properties that are due to its ability to bind with metal ions and disrupt the bacterial membrane. It also inhibits the activity of gland cells by binding with the G protein-coupled receptor that is responsible for hormone release.
