Description

6-Hydroxy-7-methoxy-4-phenylcoumarin is a coumarin derivative that has been shown to be an anti-inflammatory agent. It has been shown to inhibit the production of prostaglandins and leukotrienes in skin cells, which are inflammatory mediators. 6-Hydroxy-7-methoxy-4-phenylcoumarin is also a natural compound that can be found in Chinese herbs such as Dalbergin, and has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity against cancer cells. 6HMC is a film forming polymer that can form polymers or resins with hydroxyl groups on the aromatic ring. This chemical structure may account for its significant cytotoxicity and natural compounds. The hydrochloric acid group on the molecule may account for its anti-inflammatory activities.
