Product Information

Name:
6-Hydroxybenzothiazole
Synonyms:
  • 1,3-Benzothiazol-6-Ol
  • 6-Benzothiazolol
Description:

6-Hydroxybenzothiazole is a chemical that is used as a conjugate in the diagnosis of ventral root diseases. It is a photomultiplier tube dye that emits light when exposed to UV light. This light emission can be measured by a photomultiplier, and the 6-hydroxybenzothiazole concentration can be determined by measuring the ratio of light emission at two different wavelengths. This dye has been shown to enhance the immunoassays for specific antibodies and ganglia, and it has been used in microtitre assays for Parkinson's disease. The most common use of this chemical is as an electron-accepting substrate in positron emission tomography (PET) imaging.
