Product Information
(R)-2-(6'-heptenyl)glycine is a chiral, hydrolyzing, and reagent that converts carbonyl compounds to their corresponding enantioenriched crotyls. It can be used as a chiral catalyst for the synthesis of racemic mixtures and optically active compounds. The (R)-2-(6'-heptenyl)glycine is prepared from the commercially available racemic 2-phenylglycine by treatment with methylmagnesium bromide in tetrahydrofuran.
This process produces the desired erythro diastereomer with high yield and enantioenriched crotyls. This process also produces the undesired threo diastereomer with low yield, which can be removed by chromatography or crystallization.
