Description

Hexafluoro-1-Propanol is a catalyst that is used for hydrogenating organic compounds. It can be used as a substrate for the synthesis of hexafluoroisopropanol, which has acidic and basic structures. Hexafluoro-1-Propanol is also a fluorescence probe that can be used to study the dynamics of viral life in vitro. Titration calorimetry experiments indicate that hexafluoro-1-propane is an excellent hydrogen bonding partner and has thermodynamic data that are best described by a reaction mechanism involving acid catalysis.
