Product Information
Hexafluoro-2-propylalcohol is a liquid that is used as a solvent. It has a boiling point of -22°C, which is much lower than other solvents such as hexane (-89°C) or acetone (-78°C). Hexafluoro-2-propylalcohol has been shown to react with trifluoroacetic acid in an acylation reaction to form hexafluoroisopropanol, which can be used for the synthesis of 1,1,1-trifluoroethane. Hexafluoro-2-propylalcohol forms stable complexes with aliphatic hydrocarbons and oxone, which makes it useful for kinetic studies. Hexafluoro-2-propylalcohol can be used in the measurement of telomeres and the stereoselective analysis of solutes.
