Heptafluorobutanoyl Bromide is a fluorinating agent that can be used for the synthesis of formyl, fluorine atom and formyl group derivatives. The product is a colorless liquid with a boiling point of 56-57 degrees Celsius and a melting point of -97 degrees Celsius. Heptafluorobutanoyl Bromide is insoluble in water and soluble in ether. This product has been shown to react with carboxylates, carboxylate, enolates, enolate and imidoyl compounds to produce alkylene carboxylic acid anions. Heptafluorobutanoyl Bromide has been used as a reagent for the preparation of non-fluorinated analogues of carboxylic acids.
