Description

2-(Heptafluoropropyl)Benzimidazole is a heterocyclic compound. It is synthesized by the reaction of 2-aminophenol and heptafluoropropane diol with potassium hydroxide in the presence of thiourea. This product can be used as a bifunctional reagent to yield epoxide derivatives from amines and phenols, or react with hydrazine to produce 1,2,3-triazoles. 2-(Heptafluoropropyl)Benzimidazole has been used in insecticides. The chemical can also be used in the synthesis of polyphosphoric acid, which is an acidic chemical that reacts with metals to form metal phosphate salts.
