1,1,2,3,3,3-Hexafluoropropyl Methyl Ether is a labile hydrocarbon group that can be used as a catalyst. It is stable in the presence of hydrogen peroxide and ethylene and has been shown to be catalytically active for the methylation of benzyl groups with methylating agents such as dimethyl sulfate. 1,1,2,3,3,3-Hexafluoropropyl Methyl Ether has also been shown to be an effective polymerization catalyst for polyolefin synthesis.
