Isobornylcyclohexanol is an organic acid that can be used as a viscosity-increasing agent in aqueous compositions, such as detergent compositions. It is typically used in the form of its sodium salt. Isobornylcyclohexanol has been shown to have a particle size between 5 and 10 micrometers when prepared with cyclohexanol and fatty acids. The vaporizing point of this organic acid is approximately 140 degrees Celsius. When heated, it decomposes into cyclohexanone, carbon dioxide, water vapor, and hydrogen chloride. This product has a hydroxyl group and two hydrocarbon chains (i.e., divalent hydrocarbons). The molecular formula for isobornylcyclohexanol is C10H20O2.
