Description

2-Iodotoluene is an organic compound that contains the halide group. It has a chloroiodo, or "Cl-I", group attached to two carbon atoms, and a bromio, or "Br-I", group attached to one of these carbon atoms. The chlorine atom in 2-iodotoluene is more reactive than the bromine atom, which means that it can be used as a catalyst for certain reactions such as the Suzuki coupling reaction. 2-Iodotoluene can be used as a solid catalyst for reactions involving chloride ions and sodium carbonate.
