2-Isothiocyanato-1-methoxy-4-nitrobenzene (ITCMB) is a cytotoxic compound with anticancer activity. It is a potent inhibitor of DNA synthesis and cell division, which leads to apoptosis and tumor regression. ITCMB induces cell cycle arrest at the G2/M phase and induces apoptosis in human tumor cells. The mechanism of action of this compound is not yet known, but it may be due to its ability to block the DNA replication machinery in the cancer cells. ITCMB has been shown to inhibit proliferation of human tumor cell lines in vitro and cytotoxicity studies are being conducted in vivo.
