N-Isobutyl-N-isopropylamine is a reactive, acidic chemical with antibacterial activity. It is an alkylating agent that reacts with DNA to form crosslinks in the DNA chain and inhibit cell growth. N-Isobutyl-N-isopropylamine has been shown to be effective against influenza viruses (including H1N1), as well as other viruses such as herpesviruses and adenoviruses. This chemical is also active against bacteria, including methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and β-lactamase resistant bacterial strains.
