Description

1-Isocyanato-2,4-dimethoxybenzene is an amine that is used as a reactive chemical to derivatize other compounds. It reacts with nucleophilic groups on the target molecule to form a covalent bond. The carbamate group in 1-isocyanato-2,4-dimethoxybenzene can react with amines on proteins to form carbamates. These carbamates have been used as pesticides and have shown anti-diabetic properties in animal models. 1-Isocyanato-2,4-dimethoxybenzene has been shown to be a good solvent for organic solutions and can be thermally stable at high temperatures. It has also been shown that 1-isocyanato-2,4-dimethoxybenzene undergoes gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) analysis without decomposition or fragmentation of the molecules.
