Imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine-3-carbaldehyde is a compound that inhibits bacterial growth and has been shown to have antituberculosis properties. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of thiosemicarbazide reductase in Staphylococcus aureus and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine-3-carbaldehyde also catalyzes the reaction of coumarin derivatives with electrophiles. This compound is used as a solid catalyst for the recycling of polyethylene terephthalate and refluxing in the synthesis of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines. Imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine-3-carbaldehyde was found to be active against a variety of bacteria, including methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Enterococcus faecalis
