Description

4-Isopropylphenoxyacetyl chloride (4IPPC) is a potent antibiotic that inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. 4IPPC has been shown to synergize with other antibiotics, such as methicillin and mupirocin, for the treatment of staphylococcal infections. This drug has shown cellular toxicity in vitro, but does not inhibit protein synthesis. 4IPPC also has antibacterial activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
